Finishings & Coatings

Depending on their applications, H B Humphries routinely apply specialised finishes to many of our products. This is particularly the case where products require a finish tougher than conventional paint e.g. where they will be exposed to the elements, or other causes of corrosion or degradation.

Powder Coating

Powder Coating is an environmentally sound solution in surface finishing, as no solvents or thinners are used. Dry, free-flowing thermoplastic or thermoset powder is applied electrostatically to the product, which is then baked (cured) so that it forms a protective skin over the metal. The process offers an unlimited range of colours.

Syntha Pulvin™ Powder Coating

The Syntha Pulvin™ range of architectural powder coatings is formulated to decorate and protect architectural metalwork that may be exposed to extreme weather and ultraviolet conditions. Syntha Pulvin™ is available in a wide range of colours, and offers guaranteed performance of up to 40 years.

Anodising

Anodising converts the surface of aluminium into an extremely hard, durable, corrosion-resistant and long lasting aluminium oxide finish.

H B Humphries offer natural anodising to AA25 grade. We are also approved applicators for Analok™, which offers an attractive range of colours.

Hot Dip Galvanising/Zinc Plating

Hot Dip Galvanising is the process of coating metal with a thin zinc layer, by passing the steel through a molten bath of zinc at a temperature of around 860°F (460°C). When exposed to the atmosphere, the zinc reacts with oxygen to form zinc oxide, which further reacts with carbon dioxide to form zinc carbonate, a dull grey, fairly strong material that prevents corrosion.

TCN Coating

Sigma Coatings™ TCN pitch epoxy hardener is a coating which we commonly use as protection against extreme weather conditions, prolonged outdoors exposure, water, chemicals and abrasion e.g. as a lining for metal gutters and rainwater goods.
